get your print on! (printed pants)

Today I've decided that I NEED a pair of printed pants. They've been everywhere for New York Fashion Week, in every color, print and material. The difference from their cousins from this past spring, is that the prints are darker (burgundy, navy, grey), and the materials are a lot richer (so much brocade!, denim has gone darker too). I hope we get them at Zara sometime soon, pants are the only thing I won't dare shop online.

all pants from Net-A-Porter and therefore totally out of my budget, but so inspiration worthy!

Fashion Weekend: Instafaves from New York Fashion Week Part 2

And on it goes! I couldn't stop refreshing my instagram feed this weekend, so much pretty! Here are my faves from all over the place. In case you were wondering where I get the photos from, my fave sources can be divided into two groups: fashion magazines and fashion editors/bloggers. The Wall Street Journal + their contributors, and The New York Times are doing a great job covering the shows. From the editor/blogger side, I love the feeds from Man Repeller, Eva Chen, Krystal Bick, Fashion Critic and Fashion Foie Gras. Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week: Insta-faves

Fashion month is my second favorite time of year (Christmas is my fave), and I especially love September because spring is my favorite season fashion-wise. Sadly, I have yet to be able to attend a Fashion Party, but a girl can dream through instagram. Here are my favourite photos of New York Fashion Week Day 1, and come back during the weekend for more about the shows!

Ad Love

September issues are legendary for being Bible-thick. They are always significantly thicker than any other month's issue because they feature all of the new looks for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. It's so big because it's transitional, but if this is the case, why isn't march just as popular as september you might wonder? Because right after september comes the biggest and most important season of the year for retailers: holiday shopping! That's why the bulk of the september issues is made up not of magazine articles, but of ads! Some people might be annoyed of having endless pages of ads in magazines, but I've learned to love them. They keep on getting better every year! Here are my faves :)

Talk about flower power... this is stunning

The embroidery, the detail on the sleeves, it's like a modern day princess dress

I wish I had this dress in my closet and a party to wear it to...

J.Crew seriously understands me so well...

My closet is calling for that polka dot bag, my wallet shakes in fear

Dior's celebration of the 120 issues of Vogue, so ladylike

Celebrating the world's greatest love stories... this is too cute, it's just like the scene at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's

You go Glenn Coco! This Cavalli dress is totes amaze, and as usual, Coco Rocha making a face

Can I be a geek? I'm a sucker for great color combos and fonts

That dress... so elegant

Love all of these shades of blue, they remind me of the ocean

A smiling model sighting! So rare, it's like finding a unicorn

reviewing the september issues: Vogue

The Cover, a 10 for making Lady Gaga look almost normal

Fashion is in the air! One of the most exciting times in fashion is here: september issues are out, full of fall fashion goodness. This year was the first time time I haven't had the real 100 pound magazine in my hands, instead I'm reading them on my ipad, but from what I've read and photos I've seen on instagram, this year's issues were the biggest ones ever. It was hard to narrow down my faves from all of those pages, but here they are, my favorite things from all issues! I read Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar and Real Simple. Today, I'll start things of with my Vogue Top 5.

This red dress photograph is stunning

1. The Trivia!

Vogue has published 120 issues: I love Anna Wintour, she is one intimidating lady. In her letter from the editor, she focuses on the fact that this issue was Vogue's 120th and how because of that, this issue is a special tribute to everyone who works at the magazine.

Christy Turlington is half salvadoran: FYI, her mom was a flight attendant from El Salvador who married an american Pan Am pilot. I love it every time El Salvador gets a shout-out in an international magazine (for something good for a change...) Double love it if it's in Vogue.

The model with most Vogue covers is Lauren Hutton. She has 26. Compare with Gisele who has 11, and Cindy Crawford with 18.

2. The sense of an ending

This has nothing to do with fashion, and if I hadn't been reading this in a public place, I probably would've burst out in tears. Ann Patchett, author and Vogue contributor, tells the story of the passing away of Rose, her dog of sixteen years. Ann tells the funny story of how she found her, the slow decline of Rose's health, and how it felt to have been with her dog until the very end: "sometimes love does not have the most honorable beginnings, and the endings, the endings will break you in half. It's everything in between we live for." Cue the waterworks.

Sounds like you had a great life Rose, your story touched my frozen heart

3. Fall beauty: vampy lips and smooth skin!

It's no secret that colors go darker for fall, from clothes, to accesories, to nail colors and of course, make up. Vogue is championing a "pretty Goth" look for fall: feminine, with an edge. What does this mean in real life? A dark mouth, dark cherry and blood red lips, like the ones worn at the Met Ball this year. The perfect partner to brave lips, is a great complexion, light on the blush and foundation. What about the eyes? Curled lashes + a ton of mascara. Think Lana del Rey.

Brave lips!

4. Names you should know: Peter Copping and Erdem Moralioglu

That last name sure is a mouthful, but you've probably heard of his namesame label Erdem before. He and Mr. Copping, head designer for Nina Ricci, are featured in Vogue's list of 120 under 45 most important names in fashion right now. Why? Because they make the most beautiful, ladylike elegant dresses. Think lace, flowers, lingerie.

So gorgeous, if only I didn't have to give up my firstborn to own one of these dresses...

5. The socials

The fact that rich girls get invited to lots of things fashion is no mistery. Long gone are the days of the trashy socialite (ahem Paris Hilton), and now, "the socials" are a true fashion force. They are no longer famous for being famous, but instead have become famous for being power players in the industry, having jobs as editors, entrepreneurs, models and artists. They do it all, and do it looking damn great.

No Hiltons or Kartrashians allowed here!

Other random shots I loved...:

Lauren Santo Domingo: social, owner of incredibly awesome (and uber expensive) shopping site Moda Operandi, ex-Voguette, mom and just generally awesome lady... can you tell that I love her?

Who can forget the walls of flowers for Raf Simon's debut with Dior... amazing

This Marni shirt is colorblock perfection!
